Media Technology and The Enlarging World of Distance Education in Nigeria
Abstract
This paper brings media technology and the enlarging world of distance education in Nigeria under examination. It takes a brief look at the history, assesses the strengths and weaknesses of distance education media, which it classifies as the print, broadcast, personal and compumedia. It is the view of the paper that no one medium can be sufficient in distance learning. The author therefore recommends "media mix" or the "integrated media" coupled with adequate research as the most effective approach to distance education in Nigeria. Finally, the paper draws the attention of the Nigerian distance education planners and beneficiaries to the numerous media opportunities that abound in the world of today's fast-pace communication technology.
